Hi, I’m Kate Capone, the heart behind A Brush with Fun. Creativity has always been my compass – as a teacher, mentor, and now as the founder of a studio dedicated to recovery and connection through art.

My background in education and community arts has given me years of experience working with people of all ages and abilities. Along the way, I’ve led classrooms, supported emerging artists, and joined networks like the Peel Art Teachers Association, Connection Circle, and the Business Women’s Collective. What I’ve learned is that art is so much more than a skill – it’s a lifeline.

After my own workplace injury, I discovered just how powerful creativity can be in healing. That experience inspired me to create A Brush with Fun – a safe, inclusive space where NDIS participants and people navigating trauma, injury, or mental health challenges can use art to grow, connect, and rebuild confidence.

Every day, I bring together my passion for teaching, my belief in person-centred care, and my love of art. Whether it’s mentoring TAFE students, hosting exhibitions that celebrate participants’ achievements, or developing eco-friendly practices in the studio, my focus is always the same: empowering people to rise through creativity.

I’m proud of how far I’ve come – from opening my Mandurah studio, to celebrating student success at MANPAC’s 9x5 Exhibition, to being recognised through Biz Blitz and Curtin University, and most recently, winning our category at the 2025 Alcoa Peel Business Awards. These moments remind me of the impact creative recovery can have in our community.

But more than any award or milestone, what matters most to me is seeing someone smile, find their voice through art, and realise they are stronger than they knew.

A Brush with Fun is more than a studio – it’s my life’s work, built on resilience, compassion, and the belief that art can truly change lives.
